This course prepares the high school student for obtaining the privilege of a driver’s license.
For adults 18 and older who want to improve their driving skills or obtain an Iowa driver’s license.
An instruction permit is required.
This course is for those who want to safely and legally operate a moped or motorcycle on public streets.
For experienced riders, this course is for those who wish to review or update their riding skills.
Ron Bandy previously taught defensive driving for letter carriers with the United States Postal Service. He also taught driver education at Kirkwood Community College.
Currently, Ron is a member of the Iowa Association of Safety Education, Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and a certified instructor with the Iowa Motorcycle Rider Education Program. He graduated from the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Academy to teach with the Rider’s Edge Program. Ron is an AARP driver safety instructor.
The State of Iowa requires anyone under the age of 18 wishing to drive a personal vehicle to take and successfully complete a state approved driver education course. A minimum of 6 hours of on the road driving instruction and 30 hours of classroom instruction is required of all students. The instruction or learner’s permit may be acquired at the age of 14 after passing a written exam at any Iowa Department of Motor Vehicles office.
Students over 18 may enroll in a driver education class and are also required to have an instruction permit for on the road instruction.
Students interested in the privilege of a school license, must have their instruction permit for at least six months, without any moving violations, and successfully complete a state approved driver education course. Written approval is required from parents/guardian and their school district.
Ron Bandy Driver Training provides professional driver education for high school students and adults. Motorcycle and moped training and education are also offered.
Classes are held in North Liberty, Iowa at the North Liberty Community Center.
